Laughing Meditation

July 13, 2021

Laughing has a lot of benefits. Tamiko Hill, DSP who facilitates “Laughing Meditation”, was inspired by the science of simply laughing. Laughter is known to increase both mental and physical health. Laughter releases endorphins in your brain which puts you in a better mood resulting in stress reduction. Laughter strengthens the immune system which gives your body and mind balance, relaxes muscles, and reduces pain. Laugher strengthens the heart and tightens the stomach. Laughter inspires hope and connects you to others by releasing anger and promoting forgiveness. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free and easy to use.

Due to the known aids of laughter, Tamiko wanted to provide this support to others. “Laughing Meditation” has resulted in many group laughs and furthermore encouraged attendees to create their own jokes. It has been amazing to hear the individually inspired jokes and talents from everyone. Laughing has truly released some of the stressors of the past year. Tamiko continues to run the group alongside Julio (both pictured to the right). Julio has been very active in the group and continues to lead the force with his creative jokes as we go. This group is one of the many successful ZOOM groups here at that The Center for Family Support.
