Why Work at CFS
Are you the type of person who cares about the wellbeing of others? Do you love to spend time with people of different backgrounds and cultures? Would you consider yourself creative and energetic? Do you stand up for the vulnerable and promote their rights? Then you are just who we are looking for to join our team at The Center for Family Support!
Strong Advocates for Individuals
Many of our staff start with us as Direct Support Professionals, or DSPs. DSPs assist individuals with developmental disabilities to improve their quality of life, fulfill dreams and reach their goals. They serve as strong advocates for individuals, encourage them to communicate their wants and needs, and support their integration into their communities and neighborhoods.
DSPs also provide companionship and support needed for individuals to live healthy, safe, and meaningful lives. Many CFS staff stay with the organization for decades, enjoying growth opportunities, great benefits, and commitment from their supervisors and organizational leadership.
“I started at CFS in April of 2003 as a DSP. Working with the individuals has always been great. It has taught me a lot about myself, my strength and has in many ways prepared me to handle the challenges in my personal life, living with someone who has ADHD and bipolar. I have grown exponentially because of the guidance and support I was given, from all the different supervisors I had during the various position I held throughout my years here at CFS.”
– Amanda, HR Coordinator
We Are Invested in Our Teams
At CFS, we are committed to providing personalized and caring support to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities who we work with. To achieve this mission, we are invested in our teams and ensure all staff are thoroughly trained and put in positions to succeed. Our staff enjoy great benefits, and very competitive salaries which are continually increased to match the rising cost of living.
Most full-time staff are eligible for medical, dental, vision life insurance, 401K Plan, tuition reimbursement program, employee referral bonus program and much more. New for 2023, full time employees will now be eligible for benefits (medical, dental, vision) 30 days from hire date, and our DSP workforce can request their earned pay at any time, instead of waiting on scheduled payroll dates. In addition, all employees are entitled to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which offers legal counseling, mental health, financial and other great services. Our investment is part of why our teams are full of people who have been working at CFS for many years.
“I started as a DSP in 2003. I love what I do because I’ve been given the opportunity to do different kinds of work for the agency and get different perspectives for each role. I’ve been able to show my value because I’ve had supervisors and others that saw me and thought I had the potential to do more. Because of that opportunity, I’ve been able to grow within the agency.”
– Alexandra, Systems Support Specialist
Diverse Workforce
Another big reason why our teams stay with CFS is for our work culture. We pride ourselves on being an organization with a diverse workforce that promotes from within, enabling staff from many different backgrounds to grow into leadership roles. We encourage our staff to think creatively, and express themselves freely. We believe that by supporting our teams and helping them grow professionally, we build a strong work family and improve the support our individuals receive, helping us deliver on our mission.
