About Ardsley Country Club
Well-known for its intimate, family-friendly atmosphere, Ardsley Country Club is unique among private clubs in the New York metropolitan area. In 1895, newspapers across the country carried detailed reports of the opening of a prestigious new club on the banks of the Hudson River. With the support of some of the most notable and successful men in the United States, including Jay Gould, Cornelius Vanderbilt, J. Pierpont Morgan, William Rockefeller and Amzi Lorenzo Barber, the establishment of The Ardsley Casino was a nationally noted event. Ardsley’s Golf Course has a long and distinguished history. Originally designed by Willie Dunn in 1896 at one million dollars, it was the most expensive course ever built. In 1898, Ardsley hosted the third USGA Women’s Open Amateur Championship. Since then, the course gradually moved up the hill away from the Hudson River. In 1917 Donald Ross made changes, followed by Alister Mackenzie in 1928 and Robert Trent Jones in 1965. The course was totally renovated in 2005 by Ken Dye.
